Learning Connections Conference 2024

This session will discuss the increased level of engagement achieved by using discussion boards to create conversations with students in the BNUR 1015 Healthcare Within an Indigenous Reality course that has been newly created and deployed January 2024 for BSCN student’s tri-campus. This session will describe how I approached a sensitive topic and built the rapport with my students while introducing the weekly discussion boards to help with understanding, respect, and knowledge about Indigenous health. This session will share the questions that were used for the discussion board and how they linked to the topics within the class. This mode of communication within the virtual classroom has created a safe space for some students to share personal stories.
