In this session, participants will get outside on SLC grounds and learn about the species living on campus, how they support biodiversity, their significance in the ecosystem, the importance of a healthy outdoor environment for our (human) mental health and wellness, and (pending conversation with the Indigenous Team) their role in Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being. During this session participants will be able to identify species on campus, use the iNaturalist App, and be able to contribute to SLC's ongoing (at min. annual) bioblitz, or biodiversity assessment in a meaningful way. This session is about engaging with the outdoors, developing an understanding for the important of biodiversity for a healthy living environment, and supporting the College's efforts in fighting climate change and promoting environmental resilience.
