Creating new opportunities for peer-to-peer professional learning: Teaching Triangles & Squares!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Teaching is often perceived as an isolating practice that happens behind closed doors – but it doesn’t have to be! In the Fall 2023 Semester, we piloted a new Professional Learning (PL) opportunity for faculty: Teaching Triangles & Squares. Teaching triangles (3 people) and squares (4 people) are opportunities for self-directed peer-to-peer professional learning through guided observation of teaching and feedback dialogues. In either scenario, a small group of peers engage in a structured, non-threatening process of planning, conducting, and reflecting upon formative (low-stakes, learning-oriented) teaching observations to inspire growth in one's teaching practice. Please join us for a facilitated panel discussion, in which we will share our reflections on process, lessons learned, and new inspirations for teaching! Teaching Triangles & Squares are an innovative way of working together, as educators, to inspire growth in our collective teaching practices. New approaches often come from looking outside for inspiration, and this is one example of a new opportunity to work towards teaching excellence together! You may leave this session inspired to engage in this PL opportunity!
