This session will offer demonstrations of generative AI (genAI) tools with the goal of empowering student agency in learning. Presenters will share practices and demonstrate the usage of generative tools including ChatGPT and CoPilot (formerly Bing AI) in enabling students to learn how they can be iteratively applied to facilitate learning and skill development. This session will have two parts: Part 1 of this demonstration will highlight the AI Tutor by Contact North, specifically how students can use this tool to further their learning, how faculty can use it to decrease workload, and how it can be leveraged as a teaching assistant or study partner. Recommendations are based on ongoing faculty practice. Part 2 of this demonstration will highlight CoPilot on mobile and desktop devices, specifically how learners can combine prompting and voice input/output to interact dynamically with the tool. This flexible approach lends itself to multiple diverse applications and is based on practice during the Fall 2023 semester.
